After leaving school I studied Marine Engineering on a course that still included steam engines and boilers and have always had an interest in Traction Engines. It was at a chance meeting with Elaine Speight, the head of events at Harewood House in 2006, that I found she needed a commentator to relaunched Harewood House August Bank Holiday Steam Rally. I offered her my services and she accepted. The show was a great success and subsequent years has seen a growth in attendance of the public and the number of exhibits. The 2009 show had 28 working Steam Engines and also included Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Trucks and Tractors and numerous mini steam engines, organs and static displays.

The arena is non-stop from 10-30am until 5-00pm!
