Professional Arena Sound System

The sound system is suitable to give good coverage to a maximum arena arena of 100m by 150m.
Unlike horns, using multiple column speakers localises the sound with less unwanted sound spill. Cabinets also give a better quality sound.
The cabinet speakers shown set in front of the commentary bus on the plan fulfil three requirements.
1. The cabinet speakers are run on a completely separate system to the column speakers and therefore offer a backup in the case of a failure with the primary system. In the event of a complete loss of power a short supply (max 20 minutes) can be taken from the commentary bus battery system via an inverter.
2. Where the music is an integral part of the arena act the cabinets can be used to increase both the volume and quality of the music whilst avoiding over driving the column speakers.
3. A perimeter speaker system creates problems of communication between the commentary box and the centre of the arena. This can be overcome by pointing some speakers towards the inside of the arena. It allows those in the arena to both synchronise with the music and interact with the commentator.
The equipment used in this system is of a professional standard and is checked and maintained before and after each show to ensure it's reliability and the sound quality.

The CM-30 column speakers are made by Next Two and produce 30w per column. They contain three speakers per cabinet producing 109db at 1m. They can be run on both a 100v line and a standard line out. The stands can be adjusted to give a speaker height between 2m and 3.5m

The Yamaha Mixer has 8 channels, is of broadcast quality and will be used to feed the Crown Amp.

The Crown 402 produces 400w per channel and will drive the column speakers.

All of the speakers come with a Pro Sound speaker stand

The large cabinet speakers are 600w Pro Sound with a 15 inch woofer and 1-inch compression driver

The small cabinet speakers
are 8inch 200w Pro Sound.

The Tapco 6306 is a six channel professional mixer which will be¬Ý
used to feed the Stageline Amp.

The Stageline 502 produces 500w per channel and will drive the cabinet speakers.

The system has two Sure
Lead Microphones with stands.

The Trantec wireless microphone system comes with two hand held mikes, one head set mike and one belt pack system. It also has 2 exterior aerials to ensure full arena coverage.

The commentary bus has an up opening window (next to the nearside door). Behind the window is a table with two swivel chairs. There is a drop down monitor and wireless keyboard attached to a Mac computer. There are also two speakers connected to the mixer and a set of headphones. The amplifiers are situated under the table and can be easily accessed for adjustment. All amplifier outputs are wired to an external box just below the window. The commentator has access to an intercom system which will allow him to communicate with the bus from the arena.
