The Old Hawking Club

In 1998 I was offered the exclusive hunting rights on a North Yorkshire Grouse Moor in return for taking responsibility for the moors management. To help finance this I decided to restart The Old Hawking Club and ran it as a private members club. I was the Clubs official falconer and manager and my mews of 5 falcons and two dogs were available for the enjoyment of the members and guests. The members had the right to buy hawking days for themselves and their guests and had many guest falconers hunting Grouse, Pheasant and Duck with Peregrine, Saker and Gyre Falcons, Rabbits with Goshawk and Harris Hawk and occasionally Rabbits with a Golden Eagle. The club was closed with the sale of the moor by the owners in 2006.

The front page of The Old Hawking Club Brochure which promoted a range of hawk-flying hospitality days.	The Club offered hospitality days for Grouse Hawking with Falcons, Rabbit and Pheasant Hawkin with Goshawks or Harris Hawks and Rabbit Hawking with a Golden Eagle.	A Grouse Hawking Party on the North Yorkshire Moors as part of a Corporate Hospitality Day run by the Old Hawking Club. The club was owned and run by me, third from the left.	"Lady", the African Tawny Eagle, was specifically trained for arena display and not hunting but gave club guests great pleasure being able to handle her and see her fly.
This was a press story that I put together for the Times Newspaper in order to promote the Old Hawking Club. It appeared in their business section and generated several hospitality days	This front page story in the influential society publication The Journal was as a result of my Press launch of the Old Hawking Club	My young apprentice, Paul Green, with "Breeze" my Munsterlander pointer and two juvenile Peregrine Falcons.	These club guests elected for a days rabbit hawking with a pair of Harris Hawks.
