Turtle Wax, who were preparing to launch a new product range called Extreme, approached me looking for a monster truck to use in their proposed advertising campaign. They felt that monster trucks reflected the products core values of super performance and power and asked me if I could help them. I negotiated a deal with the owner of a Monster Truck called Goliath (see below) which was the largest and most powerful truck outside of America. Working to the clients brief the truck was transformed into the Extreme Monster Truck and was featured in the clients advertising campaign both in the press and on TV right through Europe.
The client also agreed that the truck owners could make use of their corporate identity to promote any events that the truck might appear in. I suggested to the client that that it would be a good idea to organise a UK Tour and perhaps they might like to sponsor it. Unfortunately their budget was already allocated but they were prepared to fund any publicity material.
A deal was struck with the truck owner and I organised a 116 day tour covering most of the UK. Acting as the the press officer for the show I produced a press pack (see front and back cover below) which contained a number of printed images, competitions and stories as well as a DVD with images, video stories and competition details. I also acted as the commentator for the tour. The show featured in many local and regional newspapers and on local television and radio stations.
